WONCA is blessed with many Working Parties (WPs) and SIGs which work between world council meetings to progress specific areas of interest to WONCA and its members around the globe. This month and next I will feature some of the seven new SIGs, to give members a flavor of where their interest lies, and give details of how to join the groups for anyone who shares their interests.

The two key events I want to talk about this month are the World Health Assembly, held in late May, and the WONCA Europe conference in Copenhagen from 15th to 18th June. I also briefly want to mention the many great activities undertaken by our member organizations to celebrate World Family Doctor Day.

This month I want to tell you a little of the recent WONCA Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) conference in Dubai and also provide some feedback on the latest WONCA Executive meeting in Abu Dhabi on 20th and 21st March.

This month the CEO anticipates his coming attendance at a number of WONCA conferences and meetings. He also reminds us that World Family Doctor Day comes on May 19 and it certainly time to start planning activities. This year's suggested theme is smoking cessation and there are a number of resources available.
