Dr Halfdan Mahler, WHO’s third Director-General, dies at 93
Prof Michael Kidd, WONCA Immediate Past President directs us to an announcment by the WHO that Dr Halfdan Mahler, the third WHO Director-General has died. Prof Kidd says "He is being hailed, I think appropriately, as a hero of global public health and primary health care."
2017 AFMC Charles Boelen International Social Accountability Award
Applications close November 4, 2016 for the the AFMC Charles Boelen International Social Accountability Award. The Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) last year announced a new award - the AFMC Charles Boelen International Social Accountability Award. Named after Dr Charles Boelen, a world leader in Social Accountability, it aims to celebrate people or organizations whose professional accomplishments are reflective of the principles of social accountability.
STFM Foundation International Scholarship
The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Foundation supports the sharing of expertise among those who want to advance the family medicine model throughout the world. One scholarship recipient is selected each year and receives funding to attend the STFM Annual Spring Conference.
