Past Presidents Donald Li and Anna Stavdal represented WONCA at the annual conference of the Chinese Society of General Practice in Harbin, September 7-8.

In her keynote speech, Anna Stavdal laid out the basic concepts of Primary Care and Primary Healthcare, emphasizing how Family Medicine, with its generalist approach, is key to bringing high-quality medical care to individuals through person-centered care.

The conference was followed by a day's academic exchange at Beijing University First Hospital/Department of Family Medicine, where past APR President Meng-Chi Li joined the team. Several topics were on the agenda, including WONCA Accreditation, the Hong Kong Primary Healthcare Policy Blueprint, dilemmas in diagnosing diseases in Primary Care settings, and the relationship between research and clinical practice. Donald Li and Anna Stavdal also met with representatives from the Chinese Medical Association.

Anna Stavdal also participated in an academic exchange at Harbin University’s Department of Family Medicine, visited a Community Health Center, and Harbin University Hospital. The discussions revisited WONCA Accreditation and included dialogues on core values and principles, focusing on ensuring that the foundation of Family Medicine as a discipline prevails.
