Launch of family medicine training in Malawi
On 25 February 2016, an exciting event occurred in Malawi, the launch of postgraduate family medicine training. Malawi is a landlocked country of about 17 million people in Southern Africa, one of the least developed nations in the world, but known as the warm heart of Africa.
Development of Family Medicine in Uganda
Family Medicine is rapidly evolving in Africa. By the year 2000, family medicine was well known only in South Africa and Nigeria. However by 2016, efforts to promote the discipline were underway in almost all African countries. This article summarises developments in Uganda.

WONCA Europe feature- Istanbul conference, awards and more
WONCA Europe region held its annual conference in Istanbul during October and as a result WONCA News for November sees a focus on WONCA Europe. Harris Lygidakis, WONCA Europe Hon Secretary, reports on the conference. "Returning from the WONCA Europe conference in Istanbul, we look back at an amazing organizational feat, led by Okay Basak, Dilek Guldal, Mehmet Ungan and Resat Dabak, which saw the participation of more than 3,600 colleagues, more than 1,000 of whom being junior doctors or trainees."
